BBAW: Read this book. Please.

If there’s one book you’re going to hear me discuss to death for the remainder of 2012, it’s Jennifer Gooch Hummer’s Girl Unmoored. And not because Jennifer is an incredibly nice person (she is) . . . but because this book made me feel All The Things, as Raych would say.

Here is a list, in no particular order:

• Joy
• Rage
• Sorrow
• First love — and the excitement therein
• Unrequited love — and the disappointment therein
• Contentment
• Fear
• Hope

When I picked up this book in April, I went into it without expectations — and maybe that’s part of why it completely blew me away. Though it hasn’t yet gained all the exposure it deserves, if I have my way? I will single-handedly slip this book into the backpacks, purses and briefcases (sure, why not) of people everywhere. And I will sit nearby as you read it, admiring the way you effortlessly giggle, tear up and restore your faith in mankind.

And I’ll give you a cupcake, too. Because I’m not totally unreasonable.

      Gooch: verb. To excitedly discuss the awesomeness of author Jennifer Gooch Hummer and her amazing narrator, Apron, as well as the themes of love, redemption and loyalty in her writing.

  3. Ah, unrequited love. That’s always a tough one to read out. But hope is always my favorite. I hope for the MCs sake your feelings are put in chronological order.

  6. I bought this for my Kindle when it was onsale for a Kindle Daily Deal..almost passed it up but then I remember how much you recommended it…and after reading it last week all I can say is…thank you. I LOVED it. Definitely one of my favorite reads from this year.

    Ok, not really. You don’t need to say much more than you already have. You know I just went to a trade show and came home with, like 80 new books right? And before I went I already had 80 priorities? But I will make a note to get this. I like cream cheese icing.

  14. I got this one a few months back when it was a freebie on Amazon for the Kindle, and I’ve been debating how high of a priority I should put on reading it – you’ve just made up my mind that it’s going to the top of my TBR pile!
