100 Notable Books of 2008

telex_from_cubaS. Krishna blogged about the New York Times’ 100 Most Notable Books of 2008, and I’ve actually read . . . NONE of them! Like my fellow blogger, though, I don’t purchase hardcovers — I generally wait for the books to come out in quality paperback. It’s just painful for me to shell out $25 when I have so many other, great books waiting for me already . . . and I know it’ll be released in a $14.95 version in no time! Still, the list is pretty interesting.

I do actually own an ARC of Rachel Kushner’s Telex from Cuba, but I haven’t read it yet. Started it on my break last weekend, though, and it seems pretty intriguing!

Here’s the full fiction/poetry list. I don’t usually investigate non-fiction, but check out the article for those titles. I went ahead and bolded everything I’ve heard about and want to read! Wishful thinking? Perhaps . . .

  1. wow…i missed most of these myself. i usually put a bunch of the nytimes stuff on my ‘library’ reserve list…and read them that way. i don’t like to buy books anymore because bookshelf space is at a premium over here.

i’m interested in a few of those books…but sometimes the times’ stuff is a bit high-brow for me.
