Review policy for publishers & authors
I’m currently accepting publsihed novels for review on a limited basis — and will be happy to consider yours. I read fiction/literature almost exclusively and have a serious tender spot for literary fiction, women’s fiction, interesting memoirs and realistic young adult fiction. I don’t seek out self help, romance, fantasy, paranormal, children’s, mystery, horror, Christian or science fiction. For an idea of my reading tastes, please visit my book reviews archive.
At this time, I do not accept e-books or digital review copies (PDFs, etc.). Along with audio books, hard copy advanced reading or finished copies are the only formats in which I can review titles.
Aspiring writers: though I appreciate you thinking of me, I am not a freelance editor. I cannot read or review your unpublished book for you. I’d recommend getting a quote from an editing service like this one.
In a typical week, I work my way through one or two novels and promptly review each book I finish. While my acceptance of a book does not guarantee a review, I can promise that if I complete it, I will review it — and fairly. While I could never promise a positive review, I try to provide a balanced perspective.
Typical turn-around for a book review is eight to ten weeks, or a time to be arranged in conjunction with a publication date. My reviews are usually cross-posted on LibraryThing, Goodreads and Amazon. I never sell ARCs but I may pass them along to friends, family, other bloggers or readers via giveaways on my blog.
