It was, Kathy — amazing. I loved reading the placards describing the history of the mission, when it was built . . . crazy to imagine people standing there so long ago! (And on the San Andreas Fault, no less!)
Thanks, Erica! I’m sure the missions for you are sort of like the Washington, D.C., monuments to me — they’re everywhere. And very familiar. But still really cool to see!
Oh my gosh! I used to go on field trips here during fourth and fifth grade. This takes me back, haha. Thanks for the impetus to stroll down memory lane
That’s awesome, Courtney — I would love to have been able to explore the mission as a kid! I remember going to another one on a family vacation in the ’90s, but this is the first time I was actually paying attention.
I love Spanish architecture- especially the authentic kind. The blur of Spanish-style subdivisions I saw in south Florida a couple weeks ago just isn’t the same.

Gorgeous images. I love the candles.
Thanks, Juju! I’m always drawn to candles.
Beautiful Meg! The colors are just so striking! I would love to visit some place like this, it is simply so inspiring.
It definitely was, Kay — just gorgeous. Hard to believe there’s so much history there.
How pretty and simple.
Thanks, Carol! The sky out there was so vibrant — and clear. Not like Maryland’s humidity-clogged skies!
Those are beautiful images of beautiful buildings! The colors are amazing!
Thanks so much! It was hard to take a bad picture out there. Everything was so gorgeous.
Very beautiful. I bet it was awe inspiring.

The place looked more beautiful with your shots.
