I admit that I got bored while reading “Austenland” (the ending was excellent, the book not so much). I recently read “The Family Fortune” by Laurie Howoritz , it’s loosely based on “Persuasion”, I loved it and highly recommend it

I agree wholeheartedly with your review. I really enjoyed the book. It was a fun little escape into fantasyland. And honestly, isn’t that what books are supposed to do? Take you away from the modern world and make all your dreams come true?

I listened to this one on audio on a road trip and really enjoyed it. It was a fun one to listen to, and I want to read more Shannon Hale now. I’m glad you enjoyed it too!

I too enjoyed this book Meg for exactly the same reasons. It was a fun, quick read that had a bit of “gentle joke” with of our obsession with Colin Firth as wet shirt Darcy and the fantasy of the “Regency House” type experience that we got with the UK TV series. It’s all light amusement, and for me, quite diverting. As usual, our tastes and reactions are much the same. Well written review also. Cheers, LA

I thought this book was really cute too. I read it in one sitting when I just needed some brainless entertainment. Great fun!

I’ve been eyeing this book up for while now, thanx for the review. Mr Darcy isn’t my favourite Austen man but I’d still love to get swept up in that time period. I think I will definitely have to give this a go.
